New 8-bit All Flash Microcontrollers

The all flash choices.

• The 78K0/Kx2 Series is a broad line of general-purpose flash-based MCUs with operation as fast as 20 MHz and flash memory up to 128 KB.

• The 78K0/Lx2 Series provides the same CPU core and features as the Kx2 Series plus an on-board LCD controller and driver for displays ranging from 80 to 160 segments.

• The 78K0S/Kx1+ Series is our low-pin-count flash-based series that offers features to suit a wide range of cost-sensitive applications.

You may also be interested in our 16-bit all flash devices or 32-bit all flash devices.

Most of the MCUs in this all flash lineup feature single-voltage flash memory with programming down to 2.7V. Packages range from 16 to 100 pins. Peripherals cover the enormous application spectrum you expect from NEC Electronics. And you can minimize power consumption by taking advantage of several power-down modes plus multiple clock sources and clock scalars.

Low-cost development tools are also available for these devices.

Development Tools for 78K0/Kx2, 78K0/Lx2, and 78K0S/Kx1+

Low-cost development tools are available for designers to quickly evaluate NEC Electronics' all flash microcontrollers.

DemoKit-KA1

The DemoKit-KA1 supporting low-pin-count 78K0S/Kx1+ microcontrollers is a standalone demonstration kit that provides real-time execution and on-board flash programming.

DemoKit-LG2

The DemoKit-LG2 is a low-cost demonstration kit for the NEC Electronics 78K0/Lx2 microcontroller with on-board LCD driver. It supports on-board FLASH programming and real-time source-level debugging without additional hardware.

M-Station

The M-Station kit has two main components, each available separately. The main board is the M-Station, which allows users to perform functions such as source-level debugging and flash programming. The second component is the micro-board, which contains the microcontroller under evaluation.

The M-78F0537 (78K0/KE2) micro-board is used to evaluate a 78K0/Kx2 microcontroller with the M-Station. Sample programs are included to demonstrate A/D, I/O, and UART functionality.

MINICUBE2

The QB-MINI2 is an emulator that connects to a target device via serial interface. It includes an on-chip debugging unit and is used to efficiently debug both hardware and software. The same QB-MINI2 supports all 8- to 32-bit all flash devices.

IECUBE

The IECUBE is a full-function emulator used to efficiently debug both hardware and software. This high-performance emulator includes the NEC Electronics debugger and a simple flash programmer. It's compact and lightweight enough to fit in your hand, and is a cost-effective solution. Furthermore, an incorporated self-testing tool allows for easy maintenance.

Development Tools Software

The free evaluation software for our 78K0 Series and 78K0S Series is available to download.
