Community Giving Philosophy

NEC Electronics America has had a strong community presence in Silicon Valley for more than 20 years. As part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, the company offers a variety of giving programs to help employees achieve their charitable giving goals and supports various nonprofit events and sponsorships.

As a longstanding community partner, the company makes contributions to K-12 education, health/human services and environmental programs, while employees and their families generously volunteer hundreds of hours every year to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.

In addition to volunteering time through the NEC Stars program, employees can take advantage of other company-sponsored giving programs, such as the Gifts for Giving Program and the Company Matching Program.

NEC Electronics America believes every minute and every dollar donated makes a measurable difference in communities that depend on businesses and human resources to operate. We believe that what we give is never too little or too much. As the famous humanitarian Mother Teresa once said, “It’s not how much you give, but how much heart you put into the giving.”

Employee Giving Programs

NEC Stars: The mission of the NEC Stars program is to promote and appreciate employee volunteerism, increase company pride and morale, and build community partnerships to make a difference in the communities in which we live and work.

Gifts for Giving: NEC Electronics America’s Gifts for Giving program provides an easy way for employees to boost the value of their volunteer time to qualified nonprofit agencies. Employees who volunteer 25 hours or more annually can apply for a corporate grant, which NEC Electronics America will make to the organizations in their names.

Company Matching Program: NEC Electronics America’s Company Matching Program matches employee donations to qualified charitable organizations every year, in addition to its disaster relief company matching program.

Points of Light Foundation: NEC Electronics America is a recipient of the “Excellence in Corporate Community Service Award” from Points of Light Foundation. This prestigious award recognizes the company’s exceptional commitment to community service and support of employee volunteer programs that target serious social problems.
