Lighting Control Solutions

Today's lighting applications, from fluorescent light systems to emerging high-powered LED lighting systems, require highly efficient, intelligent control solutions at a competitive cost. To meet these needs, NEC Electronics America offers a mix of products with various levels of integration for multiple topologies.

NEC Electronics' 78K0/Ix2 8-bit All Flash® MCUs are designed specifically for fluorescent, HID and LED lighting systems requiring low cost, high efficiency and intelligent control. The 78K0/Ix2 devices consume very low power and integrate two unique 16-bit timers with high-speed pulse-width modulation (PWM) output, three channels of internal comparators and a one-channel internal operational amplifier with programmable gains. The lineup consists of 14 devices ranging from 16-pin, 20-pin to 30-pin packages. Operating temperature ranges from -40 to +105 degree Celsius.

Microcontrollers (MCUs)

NEC Electronics America offers two 8-bit MCU lines for lighting applications. These microcontroller-based solutions are designed with built-in intelligence to improve light quality and handle communication functions. Both MCU solutions are supported with comprehensive software tools, hardware tools, and evaluation boards.
